Domain Expiry Monitoring
Monitor domain registration expiration via WHOIS lookups. Never accidentally lose your domain because you forgot to renew it.
Why Monitor Domain Expiry?
Losing your domain is catastrophic.
If your domain expires, your entire online presence disappears. Worse, someone else could register it and you might never get it back — or have to pay thousands to recover it.
Total Outage
Expired domain = website, email, and all services instantly offline.
Domain Hijacking
Expired domains can be grabbed by squatters or competitors within hours.
SEO Damage
Losing your domain means losing all your search engine rankings and backlinks.
What We Check
WHOIS lookup information.
| Information | Description |
|---|---|
| Expiration Date | When your domain registration expires |
| Days Until Expiry | Countdown to expiration for easy tracking |
| Registrar | Which registrar manages the domain (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.) |
| Name Servers | Current DNS name servers for the domain |
| Domain Status | Registration status flags (active, locked, pending delete, etc.) |

Setting Up Domain Monitoring
Add New Monitor
Go to your Dashboard and click "New" button.
Enter Your Domain
Enter just the domain name (e.g., example.com).
No http:// or www prefix needed.
Select Domain Expiry Type
Choose "Domain Expiry" as the check type.
Configure Alert Days
Set when you want to be notified before expiration:
- Free plan: 7 days before expiry
- Paid plans: Custom days (e.g., 60, 30, 14, 7 days)
Check Frequency
Once Every 24 Hours
Domain expiry is checked once per day
Domain registration doesn't change frequently, so daily checks are sufficient. Combined with advance alert days, you'll have plenty of time to renew.
Alert Thresholds
When you'll be notified about expiring domains.
| Plan | Alert Days |
|---|---|
| Echo (Free) | 7 days before expiry |
| Pulse / Wave | Customizable (e.g., 60, 30, 14, 7 days) |
Need Earlier Warnings?

Common WHOIS status codes explained.
clientTransferProhibited

pendingDelete

Using Auto-Renewal?
Auto-renewal can fail
- Expired credit card on file
- Insufficient funds
- Payment processor issues
- Account holds or disputes
- Registrar billing system errors
Domain monitoring is your safety net when auto-renewal fails.
Managing Multiple Domains
If you manage multiple domains (especially for clients), keeping track of all expiration dates is crucial. Add a monitor for each domain to get centralized expiry tracking.

Best Practices
Set Multiple Alert Days

Enable Domain Lock

Renew Early

Monitor All Domains
Include all domains you own, even parked or redirect domains.
